Clear Scraps: Dreaming of Sunshine Layout

Hello...so happy its Friday!  Today, our family adopted two kittens and we've been busy playing and cuddling!  This past spring, we lost our sweet Sadie who was almost 16...I think my husband wanted to be cat-less for awhile but I kept begging LOL So, for Mother's Day he surprised me with a note saying that I could have one kitten after we got back from our vacation in August.  So, somehow we adopted two kittens in June! LOL

Today, I'm sharing a layout I have up on the Clear Scraps blog using the Chipboard Butterfly Embellishment and 12 Inch Cloud Mascil. 

I started first with white card stock and my 12 Inch Cloud Mascil.  Using Heidi Swapp Color Shine, I lightly sprayed my background.  You can use as much or little as you prefer!  Don't be afraid to experiment with the ink...and it doesn't have to be perfect!

I added in some enamel dots and a cute wood veneer heart from my stash to accent the clouds. 

I also used some of the epoxy stickers from Maggie Holmes' Bloom collection as well as adhered a doily behind my photo.  I used strips of different patterns to create my own sunshine rays and stitched through with my sewing machine. 

My title is also from the Bloom Epoxy Sticker Sheet!  

A close up of my butterfly...I'm going to show you how a simple way to embellish your chipboard! 

I first applied a light coat of white acrylic paint to the surface and allowed to dry.

Next, I covered the painted surface with clear embossing ink (turning the pad upside down and applying directly works best!).   Then using embossing enamel I applied an ample amount to the chipboard.  I tapped the chipboard on my craft sheet a few times to remove the excess powder and applied heat. The one thing I love about the embossing enamel is that it has bits of metal that melt!  It creates a beautiful effect!

I used Teresa Collins Designs' Masquerade Party for my layout...its an older line but a classic! I love the colors!

I used the bat from the Wicked Fun cut file and backed it with different patterns from Masquerade Party.

I used a wooden veneer piece from Crate Paper's After Dark along with silver letter stickers from Heidi Swapp for my title. I layered them over the 31/Star cut file also from Wicked Fun!

Paper Camellia: Adventure

Hello!  Today I'm sharing a layout I created using this month's Paper Camellia Main Kit!  July is full of travel themed goodies and you won't be disappointed!  

This year Crate Paper, Pink Paislee, and My Mind's Eye released awesome travel lines!  And they all go well together!  For my title, I used the Gold Glitter Heidi Swapp "Adventure" sticker and accented it with a cute gold Jen Hadfield Pebbles Puffy Sticker. Also, My Mind's Eye has cute enamel shapes including these dots and arrows!  

Included in the Main Kit is a 12x12 Chipboard Sheet from Crate Paper's Journey collection.  I layered  a chipboard frame and cute road sign on top of my envelope.  

This ledger card is so adorable and perfect for journaling! I added letter stickers from Simple Stories as well as a geotag enamel shape from MME.  

This month again brings you Paper Camellia exclusives such as this acrylic heart/arrow as well as cork hearts and wooden veneer stars.  

I added "rays" of different patterns from the kit on top of my yardstick and then stitched through with my sewing machine.

Clear Scraps: Mother's Day layout

Hello! Happy Thursday to you! Hope your week is going well! Today on Clear Scraps, I have a layout and tutorial up on the blog!  I used the new Chevron Border Mascil and the Banner Mixer for my page.  I incorporated gold accents into my layout...let me show you how!

Securing the Border Mascil with washi tape, I lightly sprayed with Gold Color Shine from Heidi Swapp. I used a paper towel to dab my page before lifting the Mascil.  I found this helps any errant drips from ruining my effect.  

And here is how it turned out! I used two different patterned papers and adhered them to the side of my page allowing the gold to show.  

I never seem to use up all of the rub ons in a collection.  I had the idea of cutting the rub ons into smaller sections and placing over my Banner Mixer.  

This is a great way to add accent to your acrylic!  I found too that if the edges aren't quite perfect you can smooth with your finger or lightly sand with a sanding tool.  :)

If you are celebrating Mother's Day this weekend, I wish you a happy one!  Whether or not you are a mom, I challenge you to take photos of yourself this week!  I am guilty of being the photographer and not getting in front of the camera!  As women, we are too self critical.  Even as I  look at this photo of myself from 6 years ago,  I remember not liking the way I looked.   At the time, my own mother was in the hospital fighting for her life against cancer. It made me realize that I needed to be photographed with my kids. I needed to cherish every day.  Now with my mom gone, I absolutely TREASURE photos of us together.  I regret not taking more. So, please document yourself!

I used Basic Grey's What's Up collection for my layout. I had been saving what papers I had left and lots of embellishments for a fun travel pic. 

 

 

Love the little flags and coordinating flair! The colors of this line are beautiful!

 

For my title I used some Heidi Swapp epoxy letters from my stash, as well as her new date roller stamp. 

 

Love these pennants that are included in the ephemera pack.  I adhered these under my photo.

 

The ephemera pack has both cardstock and acetate pieces.....here, I layered a few at the side of my photo.

Relax: Paper Camellia December Kit Layout

 

 Hello...Merry Christmas week (if you celebrate Christmas).  I can't believe its here already.  I am 99 percent done with shopping and have mostly everything wrapped. My favorite part of Christmas is watching my kids open their presents, followed by spending time with my family. 
Unfortunately, I've been battling some sort of stomach bug and have been pretty useless.  I worked today and am scheduled tomorrow but haven't done much else. I haven't been able to run in over a week.  And scrapbooking, well that's gone by the wayside too. I have high hopes of feeling better Wednesday and spending some time in my craft room.  I so need it. My anxiety is high this week and I know playing with some pretty paper will help. 

Today, I'm sharing a layout I created with this month's Paper Camellia Main and Add on kits.  I can tell you Ria (the owner) does an outstanding job of putting together the right mixture of papers and embellishments. And I'm not just saying that because I am on the design team! I was getting ready to start my subscription when she asked me to be on the team.  I just love creating with the kits! 

 

 

 

 

 

Love these Amy Tangerine Thickers that are included in the Main Kit!  They go with pretty much anything!  I also added some of the new Pink Paislee washi shapes..they come in this cute little booklet!

 

I layered some of the ephemera from the Amy Tangerine Stitched line and Pink Paislee Bella Rouge.  I also added a cute chevron arrow from Heidi Swapp.

Paper Camellia June kit: Always

Hello, sorry for my absence. I don't know where my time is going lately...its summer and I'm trying to keep my kids occupied so they don't hurt each other! LOL  My son just started a week class called Minecraft Designers at the local community college this morning.  So, he'll be there for three hours. Hailey and her friend are still sleeping in the basement. I think they didn't go to sleep until after 5am. 

Today, I am sharing a layout I created for Paper Camellia using the June Main and Add On Kits.  Ria does an awesome job selecting the perfect papers and embellishments for each kit! I absolutely love the gold theme for June's kit!  It's such a hot trend right now and I'm hoping it stays around for a long time! 

 

 

 

 

I want to order more of this vellum gold dot paper from MME! I love it!  I added one of the acetate Heidi Swapp words for my title, as well as a MME enamels dots and arrow and chipboard heart from Studio Calico. 

 

 

These chipboard pennants come on the MME Market Street button set. Love the colors as well as the pop of gold!
