Clear Scraps Heart Pallet Shape

Hello...I'm back! I don't know why I'm so bad at blogging but I am. I  guess I can partially blame it on the fact that I started a new job in April. I'm working part time as a merchandiser for American Greetings at our local Meijer. I  really like it because I'm getting to be around cards and stationary..kind of reminds me of when I  used to work at our local scrapbook stores.

Today,  I'm sharing a recent project I created for the Clear Scraps design team.  New Wood Frames and Pallet Shapes were debuted at the show back in January and they are so fun to work with! Here, I    used the Heart Wood DIY Pallet Shape with a favorite photo of my kids.

I   usually use chalk paint on the wood pieces because I love they way it looks. And I    had intended to do so on this piece, but the blue chalk paint I    had picked out was too light for my paper.  So, the next best thing is spray paint! Especially with these bigger pieces, its nice for faster coverage! After my paint was dry, I  wanted to add distress to my background. Using the 6 Inch Shiplap Mascil and white chalk paint, I  lightly dabbed paint to the front of the heart.  I  did not worry about clean lines and ensuring even coverage.

Here is the end result after removing my Mascil! Again, it isn't perfect and that's ok!
I  then used pieces from Cocoa Vanilla Studio's Wild At Heart collection as well as chipboard pieces from Clear Scraps.  I  painted the Cherish Chipboard Word Title with white chalk paint. Once dry, I    added a generous amount of Distress Crackle Paint in Clear Rock Candy to the surface.
I  used the same technique on one of the hearts from the Hearts Chipboard Embellishment Set and adhered to one of the frames from the Wild at Heart line.
You can see I  added some stenciling on this side of my photo as well. I    confess it did not turn out as well...the thing about mistakes is that they can usually be covered with sticker or some type of embellishments! LOL

Simple Stories' Crafty Girl

Hello! I'm back with another layout to share! For this page, I  used Simple Stories' Crafty Girl collection!  There is so much to love about this line; from the bright prints to the crafty sentiments that would make any scrappy heart happy!  I  scrapped photos from last year's Creativation show in Phoenix of all my scrappy friends!  I  love going to the shows because it makes me feel less of a scrapgeek! LOL

To fit multiple photos on my page, I  used wallet sized pictures matted on to white cardstock (I  wanted them to look like Polaroids).  I  also arranged my photos and embellishments in a "clothesline" fashion to incorporate even more goodies!  Where I  could,  I utilized my pop dots to create dimension and so they would appear to be "hanging" on the line.  I  even used mini wooden clothes pins!
The Bits and Pieces pack has many fun shapes and tags such as this journaling circle!  I  layered the coordinating washi tape underneath along with stickers from the 4x6 Sticker Sheet.

I  used my hand punches to create my own embellishments such as this tag (the plaid print is one of my favorites!)  The chipboard scissors are a nice accent to the floral heart!

One of my favorite pieces is the washi tape die cut! So cute!

Thank you for looking! You can go to the Simple Stories Products Page to see this collection plus much more!  Have a great day!

Clear Scraps: This Is Us Chipboard Word Title

Ack! I'm so behind on blogging!  I don't know what happened...I kind of fell out of habit but am determined to start being more regular.
Today, I'm sharing a layout I created for Clear Scraps using the This Is Us Chipboard Word Title.  This particular title has been very popular as you can imagine! I  worked the CKC show in St. Louis last month and it sold out!

To color my chipboard, I  used a grey colored chalk paint to match the Cocoa Vanilla Studio collection I  used (More Than Words).

My grey looked a little too flat so I added some clear glitter embossing powder to the front! This is a go-to technique of mine to add texture and sparkle!

Here is the end result! I  love how it turned out! You can also see I  added in some modeling paste to the background as well.

More Than Words has lots of fun embellishments to use such as this beautiful tag as well as die cut flowers!

More flowers layered with a frame as well as flair! I  love that CVS always has coordinating flair incorporate into your  projects!

Loving this pink ledger paper print! I  layered some stickers along with enamel dots from my stash at the top of my page.
More modeling paste! I  used the dots in the 6 Inch Circle Heart Mascil!

Adventure with Simple Stories' Travel Notes

Hello and happy Friday! I'm so glad its the weekend!  Today I'm sharing a layout I created for
Simple Stories using the new Travel Notes collection!  It reminds me a lot of Urban Traveler that was released quite a few years ago!  I  love the bright, bold, colorful patterns!

I  am always a big fan of ledger paper and knew I  had to use the Travelogue print as my background!  I   layered a few fun patterns under my photos and used the navy/cream cabana stripe of
See the World as the focal point.  The Bits and Pieces have lots of great accents such as this stacked "adventure" die cut. Using some pop dots, I  adhered it between my photos.

I  used a few of my circle hand punches to cut out different patterns from the collection. I  layered them diagonally across my page.  I  even used some of the small circle stickers from the
 4x6 Sticker Sheets to accent.
I   stitched the outside edges of a few of the circles as well as added in chipboard and journaling spots from the Bits and Pieces pack.

One of my favorite embellishments is the sentiments sheet in the 4x6 Stickers! They are a great way to add a little more to your page!

Simple Stories Bliss

I can't believe the weekend is almost over! They always seem to go too fast and I  never get as much done as I want.  Didn't help that I wasn't feeling well yesterday. At least The Walking Dead starts back up tonight!

I'm sharing a layout I  created using the new Simple Stories Bliss collection! I  was lucky to be able to play with some of the new lines for the Simple Stories' booth at Creativation in January!

I  absolutely love the colors of this line with its pastels mixed in with black and white!  I  used the wood grain with watercolor drops as my background mounted onto white card stock.  Like all Simple Stories collections, Bliss has many embellishments to choose from!  I   used the gorgeous "bliss" script from the 6x12 Chipboard for my title. You can also see coordinating stickers as well as washi tape!
I  am a big fan of banners so I  always love when one is included on the chipboard or sticker sheet!  They make such a great accent!

More of the die cuts and stickers! I used pop dots on a few to give some dimension to my page.

Clear Scraps: Star Chipboard Embellishments Layout

Hello and happy Sunday!   I know its been forever since I've blogged.  I can't seem to keep up with anything lately...honestly, things have been kind of rough so anything extra is getting pushed to the wayside.  Anyway, I wanted to share a fun layout I did for Clear Scraps using the new Star Chipboard Embellishments.

I started with one of the XL Deco Shapes and colored the outside edges in Mermaid with Ranger Alcohol Ink.  Using a solvent based ink/medium is your best bet because the acrylic is a non-porous surface.  The alcohol ink won't run or smear and "adheres" to the acrylic quickly.

Here you can see a close up of the alcohol ink on the acrylic!

I colored my chipboard pieces using Distress Paint in Cracked Pistachio and set them aside to dry.

For my layout, I used Shimelle's new collection Little by Little! I knew I wanted to get my hangs on it when I saw it at the show in January!

The stars make great accents on my page along with the patterns papers and extra embellishments!

Simple Stories: Faith

Hello...hope everyone had a good Easter (if you celebrate). We had family over to our house and I was grateful it was a beautiful day.
Today I am sharing layouts I created with Simple Stories' Faith collection.  I absolutely love the colors of this line!  Who am I kidding, there isn't a Simple Stories line I don't love!

For my first layout, "Child of God",  I used a beautiful photo of my niece on the day of her first communion. She is so photogenic and I love scrapping photos of her.  I began with the fun grey wood grain background and added the navy print at the bottom of my page. Of course, I had to add some stitching with my sewing machine!

I layered my photo and 4x6 Journaling Elements along with the "I Am A Child of God" 3x4 Journaling Card for my title.  I then used a circular floral cut file with white cardstock and adhered in the center of my page.

I added small embellishments such a chipboard, die cuts, enamel dots,  and decorative brads to accent the circle.

I am in love with the roller stamps that Simple Stories released last year!  I stamped some hearts along side the date on the side of my photo.

For my next layout, "He Knows", I used kraft cardstock as my background.  I love the feather print included in the Faith collection and wanted to use it with one of my favorite cut files (I Heart Plaid from The Cut Shoppe).

I used the die cut and sticker feathers to accent as well as sentiment stickers to accent my photo.  I usually layer a lot but with this page, I felt like less is more. I wanted the focus to be the picture...its one of my absolute favorites from one of our trips to Haiti.

I used the "He Knows.." Cloud and Stars die cut as my title; I wanted to add some dimension so I "popped" it up with foam tape.

I typed out my journaling on white cardstock using my electric typewriter and cut into separate strips.
