Simple Stories' Crafty Girl

Hello! I'm back with another layout to share! For this page, I  used Simple Stories' Crafty Girl collection!  There is so much to love about this line; from the bright prints to the crafty sentiments that would make any scrappy heart happy!  I  scrapped photos from last year's Creativation show in Phoenix of all my scrappy friends!  I  love going to the shows because it makes me feel less of a scrapgeek! LOL

To fit multiple photos on my page, I  used wallet sized pictures matted on to white cardstock (I  wanted them to look like Polaroids).  I  also arranged my photos and embellishments in a "clothesline" fashion to incorporate even more goodies!  Where I  could,  I utilized my pop dots to create dimension and so they would appear to be "hanging" on the line.  I  even used mini wooden clothes pins!
The Bits and Pieces pack has many fun shapes and tags such as this journaling circle!  I  layered the coordinating washi tape underneath along with stickers from the 4x6 Sticker Sheet.

I  used my hand punches to create my own embellishments such as this tag (the plaid print is one of my favorites!)  The chipboard scissors are a nice accent to the floral heart!

One of my favorite pieces is the washi tape die cut! So cute!

Thank you for looking! You can go to the Simple Stories Products Page to see this collection plus much more!  Have a great day!

Clear Scraps: This Is Us Chipboard Word Title

Ack! I'm so behind on blogging!  I don't know what happened...I kind of fell out of habit but am determined to start being more regular.
Today, I'm sharing a layout I created for Clear Scraps using the This Is Us Chipboard Word Title.  This particular title has been very popular as you can imagine! I  worked the CKC show in St. Louis last month and it sold out!

To color my chipboard, I  used a grey colored chalk paint to match the Cocoa Vanilla Studio collection I  used (More Than Words).

My grey looked a little too flat so I added some clear glitter embossing powder to the front! This is a go-to technique of mine to add texture and sparkle!

Here is the end result! I  love how it turned out! You can also see I  added in some modeling paste to the background as well.

More Than Words has lots of fun embellishments to use such as this beautiful tag as well as die cut flowers!

More flowers layered with a frame as well as flair! I  love that CVS always has coordinating flair incorporate into your  projects!

Loving this pink ledger paper print! I  layered some stickers along with enamel dots from my stash at the top of my page.
More modeling paste! I  used the dots in the 6 Inch Circle Heart Mascil!

Clear Scraps: #bestfriends

Hello..today I  have a layout with tutorial on the Clear Scraps blog!  I used the 6 Inch Diamond Heart Mascil as the background of my page and I'm going to show you my technique!

Securing the Mascil to my cardstock with washi, I  picked three coordinating colors of Distress Ink/Oxide. I  applied using a foam applicator in a circular motion allowing the colors to blend.
Next, I  created holes in the cardstock to stitch embroidery floss around the outside and "blank spaces" of the heart.

Here is the final result! I  love how it turned out!

Next, I  used pieces from Pebbles' Girl Squad line to embellish my page; such a fun collection!

Dream Big

Happy Thursday!  It's almost the weekend!  Today was my last official day at work...I  have mixed feeling about it and may or may not have cried after I  left. Anyway, I  won't get into that. Instead, I    want to share one of my favorite layouts I  created for Clear Scraps.

The Dream Catcher Chipboard Embellishment is the focal point of my page and I'm going to show you how I  added my color!

I    first painted the Dream Catcher with white acrylic paint....a couple coats is usually sufficient.

Next, I  applied my embossing ink to the front of the chipboard.  I  then layered three glittered embossing powders across the dream catcher. I   didn't create definite borders and allowed my colors to intermix.

And here is the end result! I  love how it turned out...I    wanted to match the ombre effect of the chipboard on my title and the feel of the collection I    used.

I  used "Pie Chart Heart" by Paige Evans (#219822) for my background and inserted different patterns from the Bohemian Dreams collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studios.

Hello 2018

Look who's back! I've really neglected my blog this past six months! One of my new goals was to blog more...and here we are into February already LOL  Better late than never right?  To be honest, I've been dealing with some unresolved health issues and my energy has been lacking.  I  put my notice in at work the beginning of December however I'm still working 1-2 days/week to help cover.

Today, I'm sharing a layout I  created for Clear Scraps using the new 2018 Chipboard Word Title. Its always fun to make a page about goal/resolutions for the new year.  I've learned to not be too rigid with my rules; especially lately.

For my title, I  used the chipboard "hello" from Cocoa Vanilla Studio's Bohemian Dream along with the Clear Scraps 2018 Chipboard Word Title. And I'm going to show you how I  colored my chipboard!

I    almost always start with a few coats of acrylic paint for my chipboard to give it a good base.  Here, I  used a basic white paint; it soaks into the chipboard well so three coats is usually good.

Next, I  used my embossing ink and glitter blue embossing powder. After I  set with my heat gun, I    went back and added more embossing ink and a glitter light pink embossing powder. You can see the area that didn't quite get covered.  My rule is that almost every mistake can be covered up with an embellishment thus the heart sticker LOL

Frames are one of my favorite shapes to use! Here, I    layered both chipboard and die cut pieces in a line across my page.  I    inserted small embellishments in or around the frames.

Clear Scraps: Star Chipboard Embellishments Layout

Hello and happy Sunday!   I know its been forever since I've blogged.  I can't seem to keep up with anything lately...honestly, things have been kind of rough so anything extra is getting pushed to the wayside.  Anyway, I wanted to share a fun layout I did for Clear Scraps using the new Star Chipboard Embellishments.

I started with one of the XL Deco Shapes and colored the outside edges in Mermaid with Ranger Alcohol Ink.  Using a solvent based ink/medium is your best bet because the acrylic is a non-porous surface.  The alcohol ink won't run or smear and "adheres" to the acrylic quickly.

Here you can see a close up of the alcohol ink on the acrylic!

I colored my chipboard pieces using Distress Paint in Cracked Pistachio and set them aside to dry.

For my layout, I used Shimelle's new collection Little by Little! I knew I wanted to get my hangs on it when I saw it at the show in January!

The stars make great accents on my page along with the patterns papers and extra embellishments!

Clear Scraps Heart Printer Tray Frame

Hello friends!  The week is almost over and I'm glad...looking forward to a weekend away with my Scrappy Girls for a fun crop!

Today, I am sharing one of the new Clear Scraps products: the Printer Tray Frames!  I used the Heart shape for my project along with Jillibean Soup's Hardy Hodge Podge collection!

The Printer Trays are a great way to mix up your layouts or to create a fun home decor piece!

I love the dog print included in this collection and wanted use it on my front frame. Using Beacon 3-in-1 Craft Adhesive is the BEST because its solvent based and won't discolor or warp your projects and it dries quickly!  I applied my adhesive directly to the front frame and onto my patterned paper.  Once dry, I cut off the excess paper using scissors and an exacto knife. Also, using a sanding tool helps as well.

One of the fun things to do with the Printer Trays is to create a "shaker" space! I added chunky glitter and coordinating wood veneer pieces.

I added die cuts from the collection to fill a few of the windows..using pop dots helps create dimension.
