Snowflake Shiplap Shape Home Decor

Hello friends! I'm on the Clear Scraps blog today with a home decor project using some of the new Shiplap Shapes! And I'm going to show you my techniques!  This is a really easy projet to recreate!

Starting with the Small Circle and Square Shiplap Shapes, I applied a light coat of light blue chalk paint to each. I did not worry about whether I had full coverage and if the wood showed through my paint.

Once my paint was dry, I used a tea light candle to rub wax onto the surface of the wood.   The rule is the more wax, the more distressed your end result will be.

I applied white acrylic paint in sections then scraping in one direction before drying.

Repeat these steps until you have covered your entire Shiplap Shape.

I set aside my Shiplap to work on my Snowflake Mini Shaker Shape.  Again using the white acrylic paint, I  painted the top frame, as well as the edges of the inside frames and the chipboard base.

Using my  Beacon 3-in-1 Adhesive, I affixed the two center frames. I then used a circle punch to place patterned paper in the center as shown.

Now my shaker is ready for some fun chunky glitter which I added to the center.

The next step is the acrylic overlay followed by the top chipboard frame!

Now I am ready to assemble my pieces. I layered patterned paper underneath my photo as well as used a coordinating chipboard frame from the collection I used.  I punched a hole at the top of the Circle so I  could string ribbon through later.

I  also punched another hole at the bottom of my circle ensuring it lines up with the top.

I applied my Snowflake Shaker to the Square Shiplap using my Beacon Adhesive (which I find works best with Clear Scraps products!)

Clear Scraps Mason Jar Wood Accordion Shaker Album

Hello friends! I'm back to share another new release from Clear Scraps! This past January the Wood Accordion Shaker Albums were debuted at Creativation!  Today, I'm sharing the Mason Jar Wood Accordion Shaker Album (which is one of my favorite shapes)!  It reminds me of summer time so I  scrapped photos from our family reunion trip to Northern Michigan last summer!

I  have found that chalk paint works well with the Clear Scraps wood! Here, I  used white for the base of the jar.  I  also found a fun metallic black acrylic paint from Plaid that I used on the lid portion.

For the title of my album, I  used the "Life is Good" Chipboard Embellishment Word Title. I  also painted this in the same black metallic acrylic paint as the lid. I  love how the black pops against the bright colors of the paper and floral sticker!   You can also see I  inserted mini stars into my shaker (I    found these in a set at Michaels next to the glitter).

Instead of doing an accordion style album, I  opted do a mini book. The easiest way to do so is to not punch your holes on the right side of your shape.  I  covered all of my pages with patterned paper as well as lined the edges with the white chalk paint.
The pages of the Mason Jar Wood Accordion Shaker Album can easily fit a 3x5 photo. Many of my photos I   wanted to use where vertical so I trimmed them down to 3x5 or 4x4. I  also tend to mat many of my photos as well as add in other patterns behind so that also factors in how large my photo will be.

In my albums, I  like to add in extra pages or areas that I  can add additional photos or journaling. Here, I  adhered my photo to black cardstock that is actually scored as a card.

This is the inside where I  added journaling and a photo. Using flip elements or pockets is a great way to add more to your albums!

I   tried to keep it simple with the embellishments by adding coordinating stickers, brads, and washi tape. I  also utilized my hand punches such as the pennant punch from Fiskars to add in additional elements.

Crate Paper: Cool Kid

Hello!  I'm back to share some layouts I created at a crop in December with Crate Paper's Cool Kid collection. I always appreciate a good boy line since they can be tough to find!  Crate Paper knocked one out of the park with this one!  I'm definitely trying to hoard as much of this as I can LOL  My sister always gives me great photos of my adorable nephew so its fun to scrapbook pages for her!

For my first layout, I started with kraft cardstock as my background. I like to layer my patterned papers so I added pieces behind my photos.

I used the cute frame from the 12x12 Chipboard Sheet to accent my journaling on one of the coordinating stickers.

Love the black block letter stickers found on the 6x12 Sticker Sheet!

I really love ledger print so I wanted it to be a main part of my background.  I paired this with the fun gray star print on the opposite side!
Here I used the block chipboard letters for my title....I also a few of the die cuts and stickers from the collection.

I used my Fiskars pennant punch to add a cute banner in the corner....I finished by stitching though the top.

Thanks for looking...sorry I haven't blogged in so long.  My son has been battling mono since the end of February. And honestly, I have been in sort of a funk and haven't felt much like crafting.  Lots of stuff going on in my personal life right now.

I'm still here....

Ok, I guess I've pretty much proven I suck at blogging.  Seriously though I think everyone looks at Instagram. I think even Pinterest has died down.  Anyway, I'm going to type out what I want because..well its my blog LOL

CHA or Creativation as its now called as come and gone and all the new pretty things are making their way into the stores. I was able to attend the show; it was a last minute decision and a roll of the dice with my  health after being in the hospital at the end of  December.  After a discussion with my husband, he convinced me to go be in my happy place with my scrappy tribe. Plus, if I died at least I'd be surrounded by pretty paper! LOL I ended up having a blast reconnecting with old friends as well as making new ones!! I got to hang out with the DT coordinator of Clear Scraps and I adore her. You know her as Pinky but I call her Cristal...mostly out of respect and that I like to annoy her! LOL

I worked in the booth for Susan and Jim at Clear Scraps...I love these two!   They are just good people...and they treat the team like family. Susan even made us turkey sandwiches every day for lunch!  :)  We had a lot of fun!

Susan and Jim even gave me the flexibility to be with Teresa when she had make and takes so that allowed me to be able to float around the floor!  Here we are in the Xyron booth! I adore this lady...so excited for what she has going on this year!!  I'm excited to be teaching at her Vegas event in September...it's going to be a blast!  And did you see the new Fiskars products she has designed? I seriously wanted to steal the clear stamps LOL

The night before I left my friend Jordan from SharBear Crafts texted me and asked if I was going to the show...we ended up being on the same flight! I got to hang out with Jordan and his mom the first day!  I've known him since he walked into the Chic Tags booth in Vegas at the summer show in 2013.   Jordan is an awesome person and I love that I can "talk shop" with him!  Check out his shop on Etsy...he always carries the latest releases!

I also got to see one of my best friends that moved to AZ from IL three years ago. Lori and I worked at a LSS together and were partners in crime. I miss her so much!  We even got to have dinner together! During the winters, I threatened to come live with her LOL...especially since she refuses to move back to IL . We used to always go on shopping trips to Michaels or Hobby Lobby together...now I don't have anyone to enable :(  LOL

One of the fun things about attending the show is that you get to meet your "teammates" in person....I  was able to meet Kevin and Amber Crowell (owners of Simple Stories) as well as DT coordinator Layle Koncar!  Love love love Simple Stories!  It has been such a fun company to be a part of!!  I just adore their products as well as their employees! I was able to talk to one of the graphic designers and told her to call me if she ever doubts her talent....I was telling her all of the things she did right on  the collections LOL Any of my scrappy friends that know me can tell you I'm a paper lover and appreciate great design of patterns and colors!

This is me, Cristal, and Susan during breakdown of the booth...we get a little stir crazy. I always hate seeing the show end although I'm happy to go home and see my family.  Phoenix was fun even though the weather was a little cool...I think people didn't respond to this location as well as Anaheim. Hopefully attendance will be up next year....I know it was cheaper for me to fly to Phoenix but I ended up having to rent a car plus park at the convention center. Anaheim was easier because you could just walk to the show..and plus Disney! LOL

I came home with a cold but not knock down sick like I was afraid I'd be. I know a lot of my scrappy friends had colds or a stomach bug after getting home. Cristal and I joked that next year we are wearing hazmat suits with our Clear Scraps aprons over the top LOL

If you attended the show, what did you think? If not, what new products are you favorite?
Have a great night!

My Scraps and More: Everything is Awesome!

This past week, I had a challenge up for Word Up Wednesday at My Scraps and More!  I asked participants to use the word AWESOME on their project.   So, today I'm sharing my layout! I wanted to use this cute photo of Noah at LEGOLAND this past fall. He was so in his happy place! We had surprised him with a day while in Orlando for Chris' convention.   I used Amy Tangerine's Stitched collection for my page. I love the colors and bright patterns!

For my title, I used a portion of a Silhouette cut file and the American Craft Thickers from the Stitched line.

Using my Fiskars hexagon punch, I layed out different patterns across my page to make a fun collage. I also added some wooden veneer and cork stars from Studio Calico to accent.

I had some of the Stitched Ephemera left over from a past Paper Camellia kit so I added this cute camera, as well as a cork arrow.

Thanks for stopping by today! Check out the MSAM shop...Audrey is getting new stuff in weekly!  And she ships super fast!  Have a great day!

Chic Tags Exclusive Halloween Kit: Pocket Pages

Hello friends!  Today, I'm sharing a Project Life spread I did for Chic Tags using the Halloween Exclusive Kit!  Halloween may be over but its never too late to document your photos and memorabilia from this year!

I used last year's Halloween line from American Crafts to accent the Chic Tags goodies!  I used my small star Fiskars punch to create this fun border. I then stitched through the stars with my sewing machine!

Showing one of the journaling cards, as well as the cute cork "October" embellishment.

Another exclusive cork embellishment...and more stars! I made a small cluster of them and stitched through.

For my title card, I used American Craft Thickers. In the upper right top, you can see another cork embellishment: a "fun times" pennant!

The Halloween Exclusives also include flair buttons! Loving this "trick or treat" flair!

I used the acetate numbers (which have a wood grain background) in one of the pockets. I decided to let them "stand alone" and stitched through.

Ha ha...my spider pug Max!  He tolerates me dressing him up! I used a Happy Place Phrase tag for journaling and another exclusive flair!

Thanks for stopping by!  Be sure to check out the Chic Tags Exclusives as well as the new Christmas Cheer Kit!
