CHA Las Vegas Mini Album

Hello! So sorry for my absence. It's just been a crazy week since the kids went back to school.  I've mostly been subbing at my old dental office as an assistant and looks like I will be there for the next couple of months.  I love being back at my old office but I do miss being home....especially having time to scrapbook!  I am even behind on blogging!  So, today I am sharing a mini album I created for Practical Scrappers last week. I used Maggie Holmes' 6x9 Mini Album Clipboard and pieces of Crate Paper's The Pier collection.  I decided to document my recent trip to Las Vegas for the summer CHA show.

I loved this mini book since it was released at the winter show!! I put off purchasing one until I had seen a few other designers' books and had to create one of my own! I purchased mine at my LSS

I used a lot of the pre-made pages that are included in the book such as this woodgrain background. I used my scallop heart punch at the bottom to create a window.  Loving all of the fun embellishments from The Pier, as well!

Yay for new friends, as well as catching up with old!  I was able to meet some FB friends in person...which is always great!  Made a lot of wonderful memories!

Love the ombre washi tape I used at the top of my page, as well as my new "amazing" stamp from Studio Calico.

This page is clear acetate...I used three 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 photos and added embellishments and journaling. Plus do you see one of the cute Maggie Holmes decorative pins? :)

Love the pre-made pinwheels! Adorable!

I created a flap with my two photos to hide an additional photo, plus journaling underneath.

I really heart sequins right now! I use it on many of my projects. I created a pocket of sequins with vellum and my sewing machine. I also used one of the sentiments from the Technique Tuesday Studio AE stamp sents.

Thanks for looking! And I hope to be back soon with more creations!! We are going to visit family for the long weekend but I may take something small to work on!  Have a great day!

Clear Scraps Back to School

As the kids get into the swing of their first week back at school, I have a tutorial on the  Clear Scraps blog featuring both a card and layout.
First up is the Regular Send It Clear Card and Small Star Clear Shape. I embossed and used alcohol ink on both right and left flaps of the card.

Next, I used a Faber Castell Gelato in Banana on the edges of the flaps. I applied the color directly to the edges and then used my finger to rub it in.

For the Star Clear Shape, I inked with Ranger Alcohol ink in Butterscotch, then added Viva Pearl in Silver around the edges.  I then added paper and embellishments to the front....

.....as well as the inside of the card.

Next, for my layout, I used a Clear Scraps 12x12 Acrylic Sheet and the Memories Clear Expression Word Title.

I used the 6 inch Numbers Mascil and Ranger Alcohol ink in Slate for the upper left corner of my page. The Mascils are so fun to work with!
Please visit the Clear Scraps blog to see more photos of my tutorial! Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

Practical Scrappers Frugal Finds: Pencils

Hello and happy  Wednesday!  This week is flying by already...the kiddos went back to school yesterday. And I've been filling in at my old office...but not as a hygienist, but as an assistant.  I am not the best assistant but at least Dr. S is easy to work with.

Today on Practical Scrappers the Specialty Team is up with a Frugal Finds Pencil challenge!  I had this idea about doing something along the lines of back to school.  I created this 4x6 library card from a Silhouette cut file.  I thought it'd be perfect as a gift card holder!

I used Fancy Pants' Trend Setter collection, including one of the mini frames to place on the front of the file.

Adding some enamel dots and a sequins around my title made with letter stickers from Basic Grey.

Here is a photo of the inside of the card.  I added a decorative metal clip from the Trendsetter collection. I then used my "open here" stamp from Catslife Press and "thank you stamp" from
 Hero Arts

Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to check out Practical Scrappers today to check out the Specialty Team's projects!

Happy birthday...

Happy birthday to my angel mother! She would've been 59 today.  I'm trying to just push through the sadness today. No tears...just sad. I should be meeting her for lunch at her favorite Chinese restaurant.  I wish I could go to the cemetery and just sit with her. Maybe not even say much but just sit and remember. But, my kids are not fans of going there..especially Hailey. So, I'm just going to keep on going....be the best mom I can be today. I know that's what she would want.

I am happy to know she is surrounded by true love, light, and goodness. She in His presence...no longer in pain. Not struggling.

Love This Life

Yay, its the weekend officially.  It's been gorgeous here in Central Illinois and we are trying to squeeze out every last bit of summer. The kiddos have their first day of school on Tuesday. (and its a full day!)  I have mixed feelings....I don't want summer to end but I am looking forward to getting my days to myself. Can you say uninterrupted scrapbooking!? :)

Today I am sharing another layout I created with My Mind's Eye's Cut and Paste. I am loving the prints and colors of this line!   I tried to do a grid sort of layout for my page.

Here, I used one of Two Peas in a Bucket's exclusive wood veneer frames.
I did my journaling with my typewriter on one of the coordinating journaling cards. I added enamel dots and stamped with the Dear Lizzy sentiment stamp.

LOVE the ombre chevron patterned!  I added cute layered sticker eyeglasses and moustache sticker.  I also stitched some pennants at the top of my rectangle.

Here, I used the Amy Tangerine embroidery stencil and thread to create the "2".

Showing two more of the coordinating stickers!  Love the arrows!

So I've done two layouts with this and now I want more! LOL Thanks for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

5 Random Things

Today on Practical Scrappers I have an individual feature in which I challenge all of you to scrapbook about you! I know I am guilty of doing projects with photos of my kids or family (ones I'm hardly ever in).  Now the whole reason I started scrapbooking in the first place was so my family could look back on our life events.  So, I've tried to start creating more layouts about me.

I used My Mind's Eye's new Cut and Paste collection. When I saw it at the show, I instantly fell in love with it!  Here, I used my typewriter for my journaling.

I love the coordinating stickers that come with Cut and Paste!  I used one of the journaling spots and added my title.   I used American Craft Thickers, letter stickers from Basic Grey, and wood veneer letters from Studio Calico.

Showing some paint splatters, enamel dots and cute flair from {a flair for buttons}.

More paint splatters and enamel dots!

So this weekend, I challenge you to create a page about yourself...even if its just what's going on in your current day to day life!  Thanks for stopping by! -Jen

Hello! It's the 15th of the month and that means another awesome sketch reveal from the
Sketch N Scrap crew!  This sketch is done by co-owner Kelly Holifield!

I created my layout with Teresa Collins' Summer Stories collection. I love the colors, as well as the gold flocked paper!

Stitching circles with my sewing machine over two of the Summer Stories die cut tags. I added a button and sequins.

I did my journaling on my typewriter using one of the patterned papers from Summer Stories. I then added the grey chevron washi tape by Pebbles, as well as the stamped sentiment from Dear Lizzy and a cute sequins.

Practical Scrappers August Sketch reveal

Today on Practical Scrappers, the very talented Liz Chidester has a fun sketch to play with this month!

Here is my layout using Studio Calico's Atlantic papers (that I was lucky enough to get from a friend of mine!).  I love the blues and yellows in this line! As well as the star vellum!

Here, I added a little cute freebie cut file from Chic Tags

I also used this anchor cut file from the Silhouette shop then added a large decorative star pin from Maya Road

I just ordered these fun grey star clips from Freckled Fawn! I thought they went perfect with my layout!

I added sequins, wooden veneer triangles (Studio Calico), enamel dots (MME), and splashes of Mr. Huey spray ink around my title.  The smaller letters are from Lily Bee Design; the wooden letters are Thickers from American Crafts.

Thanks for stopping by! Now go over to the Practical Scrapper blog to see more layouts from the design team!  Have a great day!
